Vertical has dropped the trailer for The Order, the highly anticipated period crime thriller, set for release on December 6. Starring Jude Law, Nicholas Hoult, and Jurnee Smollett, this gripping film is based on the true story of a white supremacist gang in 1980s Washington State.
Set against the tense backdrop of the Pacific Northwest, The Order follows FBI agent Terry Husk (Law) as he investigates a string of violent bank robberies and armored car heists that he believes are the work of a domestic terrorist group led by Bob Mathews (Hoult). The gang, bent on using stolen funds to finance large-scale attacks against the U.S. government, pushes Husk to the limit, culminating in a bloody showdown.
Tye Sheridan, Alison Oliver, Odessa Young, Sebastian Pigott, George Tchortov, Victor Slezak, and Marc Maron round out the cast. Justin Kurzel directed The Order and it is written by Oscar-nominated King Richard screenwriter Zach Baylin,
In an intense turn of events, the trailer teases the dynamic between Law’s relentless agent Husk and Hoult’s zealous Mathews, as they circle each other in a high-stakes cat-and-mouse game.
The film, which debuted at the Venice Film Festival to a nine-minute standing ovation, is based on the 1989 book The Silent Brotherhood by Kevin Flynn and Gary Gerhardt. With its exploration of domestic terrorism and anti-government militias, The Order feels disturbingly relevant today.
Be sure to watch the trailer and get ready for The Order‘s December 6 release.
