Charles Babalola joins the cast of Lionsgate’s adaptation of the hit video game Borderlands.
Bablola helps round out the cast that includes Kevin Hart, Cate Blanchett, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ariana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu, Edgar Ramirez, Haley Bennett, Olivier Richters, and Jack Black. Also recently cast aside Babalola are Gina Gershon, Cheyenne Jackson, Benjamin Byron Davis, Steven Boyer, Bobby Lee, and Ryanna Redmond.
Borderlands is a 2009 open-world action role-playing first-person shooter video game. The game’s story focuses on a group of four “Vault Hunters”, who travel to the distant planet of Pandora to search for the “Vault”, which is rumored to contain advanced alien technology and other priceless riches. The hunters piece together clues to find the Vault while battling the savage wildlife of Pandora and the bandits and outlaws that populate the planet, ultimately banding together to prevent the Atlas Corporation and its privately-funded paramilitary forces from reaching the Vault first.
Eli Roth will direct the movie based on The latest script draft by Craig Mazin.
The film sees gamer Lilith (Blanchett) forming an alliance with an unexpected team that includes Tiny Tina (Greenblatt) and a host of other misfits. Black will play Claptrap, because of course.
The other casting is:
Gina Gershon will play Moxxi, Jackson as Jakobs, Charles Babalola as Hammerlock, Benjamin Byron Davis as Marcus, Steven Boyer as Scooter, and Ryann Redmond as Ellie. In addition, Bobby Lee is also joining the cast in the new role of Larry.

The cast is definitely full and star-studded, on speaking of the cast, Director Roth told the trade.
“I am so excited to work with this incredible, top notch cast. Every single part counts and elevates the film and we have the best of the best coming in to really make Borderlands spectacular. I love movies where every character counts and you can only achieve that with a great cast. Every one of these gifted actors will bring something special to the film.”
Avi Arad and Ari Arad are producing through their Arad Productions banner, with Erik Feig also producing through PICTURESTART. The film’s executive producers are Randy Pitchford, executive producer of the Borderlands video game franchise and founder of the Gearbox Entertainment Company, and Strauss Zelnick, chairman and CEO of Take-Two Interactive.
The Borderlands movie has been in development since at least 2015. The Borderlands movie does not have a release date yet but filming for the movie has begun.
Borderlands is one of the world’s most successful video game franchises. And its most recent installment, Borderlands 3, launched in September 2019 and was recently released for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
